Nozomi Restaurant
Embracing the potential of natural stone as an architectural and sculptural element allows us, at Anoma, to create designs that are complex and unique. Over the years we have collaborated with artists, architects, interior designers, landscape architects and product designers to develop a series of custom surfaces, artworks and sculptures that allow us to discover the unexplored. One of our most recent collaborations was with the Japanese architectural firm Studio Glitt for Nozomi restaurant in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The Xylem
The Xylem, part of Anoma’s Breathing Surfaces collection, draws inspiration from the subtle patterns of leaf veins and highlights these oft over-looked textures, bringing them to the forefront. We’ve worked on several projects over the last few years that interpret the patterns of the Xylem while its modular surface version continues to be one of our most popular offerings.
The Kona at The Row Hotel, USA
After a long and tough grind, ourspecial-order Kona installation at The Row Hotel at Assembly Row, Somerville, Massachusetts, USA has finally come to life. An Art-Deco inspired mural, a customised Kona surface panel graces the façade of the hotel.
The Grid, New Delhi
The Grid is a special-order installation in New Delhi, India, that creates a latticed stone screen with a unique composition of squares. Carved out of shot-blasted Jurassic Gold Limestone, it is an assemblage of several distinct modules. Standing on a metal framework, these modules unite together to span the entire height of a four-storey residential building.
Puritsu, Bhopal
As a child, one of my favourite activities to indulge in was origami – the traditional Japanese art of paper-folding. In 2014, when I was itching for ideas for a new collection of surfaces, I sought inspiration in this art. This resulted in the EDIDA-winning Ishi Kiri collection that exploits the pleats and creases (as in paper) in multi-dimensional forms to create dramatic stone surfaces.
Continuum, Bhopal
Being amidst nature is where I am my most authentic self; from where I have always drawn strength and inspiration. I must have been about twelvewhen I was first introduced to the paradoxical calm and chaos of the ocean. Scuba diving since then, I was mesmerized by the Elysian forms in and around the ocean. The sea-bed, the water currents, and the interplay between the two created these sinuous, fluid, and ever-changing forms.
